The Gettin Higher Choir is, as far as we know, the largest on-going choir in Canada. It is a non-auditioned choir with over 300 members, now in its 12th year.
Shivon Robinsong and I annually run an innovative three-week course called Community Choir Leadership Training for people who would like to learn how to start and run a non-auditioned community choir based on the model of the Gettin' Higher Choir.
The graduates of the Community Choir Leadership Training Program have gone on to form the basis of an exciting alliance of non-auditioned choirs throughout North America called the UBUNTU Choirs Network. These choirs have an emphasis on social responsibility and a joyful participation in music.
I am also the director of the Soundings Vocal Ensemble, an auditioned group of 27 voices in Victoria B.C Canada. Soundings sings a highly eclectic and unusual mix of music from many style and traditions.
