Welcome to Choralsongs

Arrangements

My priorities in creating arrangements for choirs are as follows:

  • the songs need to have musical and lyrical substance
  • the parts need to be relatively easy to learn by untrained singers
  • the arrangements need to be easy to memorize
  • the arrangements need to sound pleasing for both the singers and the audience

Most of my songs are arranged for SATB (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass) unaccompanied choir. The lines are intuitive and melodic to sing and the melody is often shared around so that it keeps all the sections interested. The few songs that require accompaniment are noted.

Level of Difficulty Ratings

The songs are rated according to how easily they could be learned by a choir largely made up of people who are fairly new to singing in group harmony. The categories are based on my own direct experience with the arrangements and are meant to be a general guide. The categories are:

  1. fairly easy to learn by a choir that does not read music
  2. fairly easy to learn, but with spots that may require extra attention
  3. moderately easy to learn, but it’s good to have some experienced singers
  4. slightly more challenging, requiring some members who read music
  5. some level of music-reading ability by members of all sections is advisable.
Sheet Music Purchase

I charge for my arrangements on a per-choir-member basis. For example, if there are 20 members in your choir, then you multiply the cost of a given arrangement by 20. If you are used to purchasing printed music, you will notice that my prices are lower than those of commercially available scores. The cost indicated is per copy.

To purchase music, make your selection from the arrangements listed, then make your payment to PayPal, multiplying the cost of the arrangement by the number of members in your choir. When your payment has been authorized by PayPal, you will automatically be sent a PDF (Adobe Acrobat) file of the arrangement. You then make the number of copies that you need from that original. If you require more copies later, please make another payment to this site.

As with all printed music, this system relies on your integrity. Please respect the livelihood of musicians such as myself by accepting financial responsibility for your choir’s music.
